Verified Reviewer |Petty clerks that don't want to do their job
I went into King Soopers tonight for some groceries. I wanted a 12 pack of beer to cook with.
I showed the clerk my ID when checking out which showed I am well into middle age. She demanded to also see my husband's ID. He is clearly middle age too but he forgot his ID at home so she refused to sell the beer to us because she said store policy requires all adults to show ID in a party, not just the person purchasing alcohol.
She also pointed my face out to all of the other employees at the registers to make sure I couldn't come back and buy any beer without my husband. The only explanation I can think of us she was completely petty and on some power trip.
- Its close to my house
- Employees do not want to help you
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: Choose a different store to buy your alcohol from. Their hoops aren't worth jumping through.

I shop at the king Soopers on east Mississippi Ave in Aurora Colorado. This store is pitiful. No carts are ever available and only one cashier is available. You have 2-3 employees standing around a.

Verified Reviewer |Security at King Soopers
I am concerned about all the security issues King Soopers obviously has. Most stores are becoming armed camps with all the new partitions to get in, employees watching everything the customers do from the time I walk in until the time I check out.
I have been a customer for 50 years and have always felt comfortable and welcomed. However, that has changed dramatically. Going to the grocery store is a chore and the King Soopers of yesterday used to help me go because it was a somewhat pleasant experience. But todays stores are not pleasant and welcoming any more.
There are barriers in some stores when you walk in that you have to go through before you can shop. When you check out in self service lanes you have to listen to Sally Silicone tell you what to do and cannot turn the volume off. The clerks watch everyone like a hawk to make sure you are ringing everything up properly. Im waiting for them to check my bags like Im going to steal something.
In some stores there are armed guardsI will not return to those stores because it simply doesnt feel safe. There are blue lights in the parking lots that indicate that the store is not safe and cameras are being used to watch for crimes.
It has made the trip to the grocery store not just a chore but I now feel extremely uncomfortable and am relieved to leave the store. Today I just said Im going to another grocery store that doesnt feel like a place that expects me to be a criminal whos going to cheat or steal merchandise. If you guys decide to go back to the welcoming place it use to be, let me know and I will happily return to you stores.
But I already have too much anxiety in my life to want to feel this way when I enter your stores.
Ive been a customer for over 50 years and have never stolen anything! Your actions speak louder than your words.
- Convenience-close to home
- Attitude from king soopers new security procedure practices
Preferred solution: It more welcoming group of grocery stores
User's recommendation: If you want to feel like you are going be accused of stealing something, King Soopers is the place for you.

One entitled employee
I have lived in this neighborhood and then coming to this king Soopers for 10 years. Unfortunately, I cannot leave five stars and its all because of one person and its been a continuous and consistent attitude when I need help from her.
It is the old lady that works in the natural vitamin and body care. I know shes been there for a long time because I have been coming here for a long time. Never once has she ever asked me if I needed help, and if I did need help, Ive had to approach her and I have always gotten major attitude as if it were a big deal to help me. Im currently standing in the store and Ive been wandering in this department for the past 10 minutes.
I saw her approach me thinking she was going to ask me, but she was actually talking on the phone I Scooch to back so that she would have room to pass in front of me, but she chose to pass behind me where there was hardly any room and pushed my backpack.
What I didnt get was a dirty look.Even if she did approach me right now and asked me if I needed help I would tell her know that I needed it 10 minutes ago . I am currently looking for something specific that I have never bought before and is crucial that I get the right product but at this point Ill buy it somewhere else..
User's recommendation: Go to sprouts instead if you need anything from the natural vitamins and body care section
Broken gas pumps
User's recommendation: These people don’t know how to run a business. Don’t go there.
Longmont KS has a numbers of workers that are rude, inconsiderate , and un helpful. They should be fired!! I have shopped there 18 yrs and it gets bad by the minute. There’s one employee small guy wit
Done with KING Soopers Most of the help is rude and some are nasty. Most are unwilling to help.
Preferred solution: I’ll stay away from these losers
User's recommendation: Don’t shop here
STORE EXPERIENCE
Store Location: 890 S Monaco Pkwy Denver, CO 80224 3****31535
Around 08:10am I walked into the store with my own bag as the store charged for a grocery bag. I realized I needed a shopping cart / bucket, but the entrance door inside says emergency only.
I decided to walk around to the exiting door and I was stopped by the store employee who called me from a distance to inspect my bag. After the the store employee realized there was nothing in my bag, the store employee walked away without explanation or apology after embarrassing me in the store. I requested the employees name who pointed at the name tag EVE. I went to continue shopping and I requested to see the store manager, but they sent a supervisor.
I spoke with the supervisor who wanted my phone number and name - I declined and insisted that I needed to speak with a store manager. Eventually, the assistant store manager Dan showed up. I explained what happened and he said theres nothing he could do. I asked if I was stopped because I was black - he said no.
I asked why the white customers were not stopped. I informed him that I want to file a formal complaint.
He said I have to contact Kendall the store manager. I asked for his information, he declined.

Actually, THEY ARE DOING THEIR JOB. Their job is to check the ID of EVERYONE that you are shopping with.
Imagine you are old enough to drink but behave like a six-year-old. whose parents said no when she asked for a chocolate bar. It is not about her being on a power trip. She is DOING HER JOB, FOLLOWING POLICY.
The other cashers would do the same. You are old enough to drink.
You are old enough to be married. GROW UP And act your age.
If two people of your age are together in line, the person paying has to have id. If your husband made any effort/appearance to seem like he was paying(fumbling with wallet, cash/card in hand) she has to ask him and she cannot say to you”oh you had id, you just pay.” If none of this happened, she should have sold you the beer.
Yeah I was always the person that was going to pay. He helped me unload our cart and then went to bag our groceries.
He didn't reach for his wallet until she asked him for his ID after she reviewed mine. I was the one standing at the register with my card the entire time.
