I shop at King Soopers in Denver (38th & Sheridan) once a week, buy a minimum of 10 items, and 75% of the time at least one item will ring up at the normal price instead of the 'special' price that is marked with a special tag on the shelf. This is incredibly frustrating, because often the special price encourages me to buy a product I would not otherwise try, which I end up paying full price for anyway.

I recently learned that King Soopers has a policy that if an item rings up for a higher price than it was marked in the aisle, that item is free. I presume this policy is to prevent customers from getting frustrated at seeing one price while being charged a higher price upon check out, and to encourage them to return to King Soopers even when there are frequent pricing discrepancies. I applaud this policy, but it does no good if your employees are not trained in how to handle an item that is incorrectly priced in your computer system. Your employees (both cashiers and those at the customer service counter) have offered me a random amount off ("I'll give you .50 cents off"), they have offered to void the higher priced item and ring it up for the special price, and have even downright refused to discount the item. There is no consistency. What is the purpose of having a policy that you don't train your employees on?

Today in the self-checkout line, I waited 5 minutes for a price check which came back wrong. I left my half checked out items and went to the aisle myself to remove the tag showing a special price of $3.99 to show your associate. She did not consider the tag to be proof, saying "This could be anything," and went to ask another cashier, who told her to give it to me for the $3.99 price on the special tag. 4 times I told her "It's your store's policy to give it to the customer free when an item is mis-priced" and 4 times she said, "I can give it to you for $3.99."

It is very frustrating to not only pay the wrong price for an item, but to then have to waste my time arguing with an associate who is not familiar with your policy. Get with it King Soopers managers - train your employees before you lose customers because they won't stand behind your policy!

Did you not attend school, she is right that $3.99 could be for anything. I could take that sticker and say it was in front of the play station 4's. If you constantly need to beg for free items get a job so you can afford the items.

I work there and no this is not policy they will give it to you for the price that is posted that is all.

No I'm sorry you are wrong, the policy is the first one is free and the rest you ring up at the sale price. I thing you need to be retrained on the policies of the store.

You need to grow up and not make up your own policies and say that they have to follow them. Like I said the first time I replied to you, get a job so you do not have to beg for free things and make up your own policies.

Lol what a tool. Look at their corporate store policy that states wrong priced items are free for the first item.

It is really not that hard. Any store manager will confirm this and will fix it if you just ask them.

so, don't waste your time hashing it with the cashier, insist on getting the STORE manager. take it up with that person. I do, always get my way!

90% of the time the store manager has no clue of the policies themselves.

That is because the policy does not exist, and the three year old that replied to your letter obviously throws a temper tantrum(like you do) when things do not go their way.

Sounds like a place to avoid...what did the manager say when you spoke with him/her about this ongoing problem?

I was told you only get it free if it's an outdated item!!!!! Lazy girl didn't want to do the register correction.

Before calling adults women who are old enough to work girls, learn to put a period when you end a sentence.
